EDITORIAL POLICY

Preprints

As Production publishes original contributions, preprints (the pre-review manuscript that is submitted to a journal, or any earlier draft) should not be added to or enhanced in any way to appear more like, or to substitute for, the final versions of articles.

To allow faster access to recent research results, accepted works are published in continuous flow.

Peer Review Process

The Production journal follows a double-blind peer review process in which two or more reviewers are assigned to evaluate articles. The evaluation process for manuscripts submitted to the Production journal encompasses the following steps:

• Compliance with Standards: The Editorial Assistant performs an initial assessment to ensure compliance with the Instructions to Authors. If the manuscript does not meet the established standards, it will be returned to the authors for correction. Once it reaches compliance with standards, the manuscript is sent to the Editor-in-Chief.
• Initial review by the Editor-in-Chief: The Editor reviews the manuscript to determine its suitability for the peer review process based on scope editorial policy, and scientific contribution. If the manuscript doesn’t have a suitable evaluation, it will be desk rejected (without further processing).
• Evaluation Process: The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the paper’s scientific quality and assigns it to an Associate Editor, who selects two or more reviewers for a double-blind review.
• Associate editor recommendation: based on the reviewers’ reports, the Associate Editor makes a recommendation to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript. The decision is then transmitted to the Editor-in-Chief.
• Approval, Revision, or Rejection: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance, revision requests, or rejection of articles and for communicating the decision to the authors. The Editor's decision is final. If accepted, the manuscript enters the publication process.

To ensure a fair, transparent, and high-quality peer review process, editors are not involved in decisions about papers that they co-authored or have been written by family members or colleagues. Any such submission is subject to all of the journal's usual procedures, with peer review handled independently of the relevant editor and their research groups. This practice reinforces the journal's commitment to the integrity of the editorial process and recognizes editors for their crucial role in maintaining the publication's quality standards.

Manuscript submission implies that its publication has been approved by all co-authors (if applicable) and the responsible authorities of the institution where the study/research was performed by signing a term of publishing rights.

Authors are responsible for the manuscript content published in the journal, which must comply with Production copyright and ethical principles. Production journal does not take legal responsibility for errors or omissions, which may be identified before or after publication.

Open Data

Production encourages the practice of open data to promote the transparency and reproducibility of scientific research. Authors are encouraged to make the raw data underlying their research results available in open-access repositories wherever possible. The provision of data must follow ethical and privacy standards, ensuring that sensitive or personal information is adequately protected.

To align with these principles, Production requests that relevant datasets associated with submitted manuscripts be accompanied by the Open Science Compliance Form. Authors should complete this form in detail, highlighting how the research meets open science standards, and submit it as a supplementary file along with the manuscript.

This practice ensures that relevant data are available for review and analysis, contributing to the integrity and reproducibility of scientific research. Adherence to these guidelines reinforces the Production's commitment to transparency and excellence in scientific publication.

Fees

Production journal does not charge fees for the submission, review, publication, distribution, or downloading of articles, keeping the publication completely free and open access. 

Ethics and Misconduct, Correction and Retraction Policy

The Production journal follows ethical standards in research, including the need for approval from research ethics committees and informed consent from participants. The journal does not endorse any form of scientific misconduct, such as coercive citation practices, plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of data. Appropriate actions are applied if such practices are suspected or proven.

The Production journal complies with the principles and good practices on ethics and negligence in scientific publications. COPE and the Guidelines on Best Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication.

Erratum: in case of errors identified after the publication of an article, the Production will publish an erratum with the necessary corrections, guaranteeing the accuracy and integrity of the scientific information disclosed. Retraction: In exceptional situations, such as the identification of serious errors or scientific errors that compromise the validity of the conclusions of a paper, the Production may retract the work. The retraction will be duly communicated to readers and indexers, and the article will remain available online with a note indicating the retraction and the reasons that justified it. Policy on Conflict of Interest

As part of the manuscript submission process, authors must declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may be considered to influence the research. The conflicts of interest may be personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial in nature. Conflicts of interest may occur between authors, reviewers, or editors.

All authors must complete the Conflict of Interest Statement. This declaration aims to ensure transparency and ethics in scientific publication.

Adoption of similarity software

Production journal adopts Crossref Similarity Check software to ensure the originality and integrity of submitted works. This ​​similarity check assessment helps in detecting potential plagiarism and self-plagiarism, promoting ethics and transparency in the publication process. If your paper has been previously included at annals of scientific conferences, to be considered for the Production review process, please ensure that it has been substantially improved and properly reference these previous publications.

The use of Crossref Similarity Check reinforces the journal's commitment to good research and scientific publishing practices, ensuring that published articles are original and contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the area.

Adoption of software using Artificial Intelligence resources

The Production journal requests that authors declare any use of artificial intelligence (AI), large-scale language models (LLM), or similar technologies in the development of the text included in their manuscripts, whether that text is used in whole or in part. A specific section should be added at the end of the main text, before the References section, detailing the use of AI or LLM, as the following example: 

• Artificial Intelligence Use Statement:  ChatGPT was used during [DESCRIBE DETAILS], and the authors reviewed the resulting text before including it in the manuscript.

The Production journal journal also clarifies that AI, LLM, or similar technologies cannot be credited as authors. This decision is based on the following criteria:

•  AI or LLM cannot transfer copyright.
•  AI or LLM cannot declare conflicts of interest.
•  AI or LLM cannot respond to authorship queries or disclaimers.

Gender and Sex Issues

The Production journal prioritizes the use of inclusive language that respects differences and promotes equal opportunities in the writing of scientific manuscripts. Authors are encouraged to avoid bias, stereotypes, slang, and references to dominant culture in their texts. Following the Sex and Gender Equity in Research – SAGER Guidelines, the Production highlights the importance of explicitly including and analyzing sex and gender data in research where appropriate.

Ethics Committee

The publication ethics statement for the journal Production is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. We follow the COPE´s core practices.

The authors must inform consent of all participants of the research, or their legal guardians when applicable. To publish details or images that may identify participants, written consent must be obtained and attached to the submission (Supplementary file). International researchers must ensure that their studies have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee in their jurisdiction and provide supporting documentation.

Experimental studies with animals must follow the ARRIVE (Animal Research: Reporting of In Vivo Experiments) and PREPARE (Planning Research and Experimental Procedures with Animals: Recommendations for Excellence) guidelines, together with the Brazilian Guide for the Care and Use of Animals in Teaching or Scientific Research Activities (DBCA) of the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (CONCEA).

Copyright

Production adopts a copyright policy that complies with the recommendations of the SciELO criteria (item 5.2.10.1.2. – copyright). This recommendation is essential to protect the interests of authors while promoting the open and ethical dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Authors of articles published by Production retain copyright to their work by licensing it under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY), which allows articles to be reused and distributed without restriction, provided the original work is properly cited. This approach promotes the dissemination of scientific knowledge in an ethical and accessible manner.

Intellectual Property and Terms of Use

Website Responsibility: Production is responsible for ensuring that all content published on its website is properly licensed and respects the copyright of the authors.

Author's Responsibility: Authors who submit their works in Production must ensure the content is original and does not violate the copyright of third parties. Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permissions for any copyrighted material used in their manuscripts.

License Adopted by the Journal: To facilitate the reuse and distribution of works, articles published in Production are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). This license allows third parties to use and share published works, as long as they give appropriate credit to the original author and publication.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Types of Documents Accepted

Production accepts original articles and systematic reviews. Original articles present original and unpublished results of scientific research. Review articles describe explicit and systematic methods for pooling and synthesizing the results of studies that address a research question.

Manuscripts not accepted: Production does not accept case reports, brief communications letters, simple literature reviews, and technical reports.

Original articles and systematic reviews should be structured in the following sections: Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussions, Conclusions, and References.

Manuscripts shall have from 4,000 to 8,000 words, including references.

Authors' Contribution

The Production journal does not allow the addition or removal of authors after manuscript submission.

All information on the authors and their affiliations shall be included only in the online submission system; such information will be excerpted therefrom if the manuscript is accepted. Authors and affiliations shall not be included in the manuscript file to ensure a double-blind review process. Additionally, all copyrights shall be removed from the uploaded manuscripts.

Authors are considered those who have an effective intellectual and scientific contribution to the completion of the work. All persons designated as authors must be responsible for the authorship of the article and have participated sufficiently in the work to assume public responsibility for its content. Authors must register their contributions in published articles. The instruction must use two minimum authorship criteria:

a. Actively participate in the discussion of results; 

b. Review and approval of the final version of the work. 

SciELO recommends the CRediT Taxonomy 

Declaration of Conflict of Interest: form completed and duly signed by all authors of the manuscript.

Funding: report funding agencies and process numbers, if applicable (see Funding Statement).

Acknowledgments: Recognize people or institutions that collaborated, but do not qualify as authors.

Manuscript Preparation

Production recommends using guidelines to ensure transparency and reproducibility of the research. For Systematic Reviews, the journal encourages authors to follow the Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA 2020).

When preparing your manuscript for submission to Production, please follow the manuscript template to ensure that your paper meets the standards required by the journal.

Article Submission Format

The manuscript template details the following guidelines:

•  File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX 
•  Page dimensions: A4 (210x297 mm
•  Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
•  Source:
  •  Text: Times New Roman, size 12
  •  Tables, tables, figures, and annexes: Times New Roman, size 10
•  Line spacing: 1.5 line spacing (including tables, graphs, and attachments)
•  Indentation and spacing: zero
•  Text alignment: Justified

The document should be formatted in a single column. All figures, graphs, tables, and other text objects, should be included in the document body positioned to provide the best reading flow. Files must not exceed 3 MB.

For submission, three (03) main files must be uploaded to the online submission system:

• Manuscript: the paper file for blind review (without the author’s data). See the manuscript template (in the system, please identify it as  Main Document);
• Cover Letter: submissions must be accompanied by a Cover letter, which must highlight its adherence to the journal’s editorial scope, theoretical and practical relevance, aims, methods, main results, and its original theoretical, empirical, and/or methodological contribution.
• Authorship Responsibility and License Agreement form: the  Form_Copyright_Agreement.docx  filled and signed by the corresponding author and scanned as a JPG or PDF (in the system, please identify it as  Supplemental File NOT for Review).
• Open Science Compliance Form: the Open Science Compliance Form (in the system, please identify it as  Supplemental File NOT for Review).
• Copy of the approval of the Research Ethics Committee of the institution where the study was carried out when it involves research on humans or animals (in the system, please identify it as Supplemental File NOT for Review).

Manuscript Submission Format

The Main Document file must contain a manuscript written in English, including the title of the article, a structured abstract, and the text of the manuscript with references.

Additional Information

• The title should be concise but informative and should not contain more than 15 words.
• The abstract should have a maximum of 250 words and be structured in five topics: (i) Paper aims; (ii) Originality;  (iii) Research method; (iv) Main findings; and (v) Implications for theory and practice.
• Three to five keywords must be provided. These keywords should not repeat terms from the title.
• All Sections and Subsections should be numbered beginning with the Introduction.
• Units of measurement should always follow the standard defined by the International System (IS). Please note that in the English language style, the decimals must be separated by points/dots (not commas).
• Abbreviations used in the tables, figures, and other objects must be defined below such objects, even if they have previously been defined in the text.
• The names of products and equipment must include the trademark symbol (®) and information on the manufacturer’s name, city, and country.
• Footnotes are not accepted in this journal.
• Equations should always be carefully revised and sequentially numbered whenever necessary.

Digital Assets

Tables, figures, and illustrations

• Tables should be compiled using the table resources in MS Word. Tables inserted as images cannot be accepted and will result in delayed evaluation and publication.
• Tables must be numbered sequentially with Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).
• Tables must be properly cited in the text and inserted in the text, after being cited.

Tables for which no sources are cited are understood as originally produced by the authors, and are under their responsibility.

Figures, illustrations, and photographs

• Images, figures, and photographs must be of high quality (300 dpi or higher), in JPEG.
• Data displayed must be in English and the smallest font must be legible after insertion in the file text.
• They must be numbered sequentially as figures (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).
• They must display a caption and source as well as be referenced in the text.

Figures must be properly cited in the text. Figures for which no sources are cited are understood as originally produced by the authors, and are under their responsibility

Citations and References

Citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association – APA. The complete policy and tutorials can be found at http://www.apastyle.org.

In-text quotes:

• Citations in the text body should follow the author-date citation system, that is, notes in the text should only indicate the author’s last name and year of publication.
• Direct citations (verbatim transcript of the consulted paper) should be in the body text in double quotation marks. In these cases, the page(s) of the source consulted must be specified. In indirect citations, the indication of the page(s) consulted is optional.
• Some examples of citations:

• One author: Sayers (1970); (Sayers, 1970).
• Two authors: Moraes & Furuie (2010); (Moraes & Furuie, 2010).
• More than two authors: Ferreira et al. (1984); (Ferreira et al., 1984).
• Citing articles of the same author: Santos (2003a, b; 2007); (Santos, 2003a, b; 2007).

Reference list:

• References must be ordered first alphabetically and then in chronological order, if necessary. Multiple references of the same author in the same year must be identified by letters (e.g., 'a', 'b', and 'c') placed after the year of publication, according to the citations in the text.
• All references cited in the text must be in the list of references, as well as each reference in the list must be cited in the text.
• Each reference must include all authors (Do not use "et al." in references).
• Follow the specific format for each type of publication (articles, books, book chapters, etc.), according to APA standards.
• Always use full titles to identify journals.
• Include the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) ​​for articles published online, whenever available.
• Whenever possible, avoid difficult-to-access citations, such as out-of-print or rare books and unpublished materials.
• Avoid citing theses, dissertations, books and chapters, newspapers or non-scientific magazines (magazines), and other unpublished or under-preparation articles.

Supplementary Documents

To submit a manuscript to Production, authors must access the submission system (ScholarOne platform) at the following link: https://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/prod-scielo. The step-by-step process to submit a manuscript is:

• Step 1: after logging in, use the menu to access the "Author", then click on the link to "Start a new submission”. Follow the onscreen instructions starting with “Begin Submission”.
• Step 2: Insert Type, Title, & Abstract of the manuscript
• Step 4: insert Attributes, Keywords
• Step 4: Insert the information about Authors & Institutions
• Step 5: Insert the Details & Comments, Cover Letter, Funding information, Conflict of interest, and other confirmations;
• Step 6: Upload the Files (File Upload):
• Step 7: Review & Submit to confirm all the information included and use the buttons of View Proof to check if all the uploaded information is correct.
• Step 8: After that click on “Submit”.

Financing Statement

Authors must declare all sources of funding and support received for the research, including funding agencies, foundations, companies, or other institutions.

If the research did not receive external funding or support, please indicate: "This research did not receive external funding or support."

Example: "This research was funded by the XYZ Foundation (grant #123456). The XYZ Foundation was not involved in the collection, analysis, or interpretation of the data, or the writing of the manuscript."
